Nico Van der Beken is a well known forensics and investigations expert in Switzerland and throughout the BENELUX countries, and has longstanding experience assisting major law firms, Swiss banks and corporations involved in criminal, civil, regulatory and internal investigations.
In 2014, Nico co-founded the Swiss offices of Stroz Friedberg, where he worked as a Managing Director. In this role, he worked closely with the firm’s diligence and investigations team which spun out into Wallbrook in 2018.
He was also formerly a Partner at both KPMG and Deloitte in Switzerland, where he focussed on forensic technologies and cyber response. In addition, he worked for over a decade at PwC, eventually leading their forensic technology solutions group in Zurich.
Nico has led numerous investigations related to fraud, employee misconduct, anti-trust violations, corruption, data leakage and breaches, cyber incidents, as well as a wide range of regulatory and compliance work. He also frequently assists major law firms with his specialist knowledge in Computer & Mobile Forensics, Data Analytics, e-Discovery, Cyber & Data breach Response, Corporate Intelligence and Investigations. In particular, he has directed numerous highly complex banking fraud and regulatory investigations using advanced analytics and e-discovery techniques, including machine learning and predictive coding. He also successfully delivered some of the most significant cross-border investigations related to corruption and anti-trust in the manufacturing, consumer business, and life science industry across Europe.
Alongside his professional work, Nico volunteers for the United Nations Online Volunteers. In this role he has supported projects for the International Organization for Migration, and the Surfrider Foundation, an NGO dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches.
Nico holds a MSc. in Industrial Sciences from Howest and an Executive MBA in Technology Management from the University of Fribourg. He is fluent in Dutch/Flemish, French, English, German and has working Italian.
