Loshana K. Shagar is an Associate at Wallbrook in Hong Kong, where she focuses primarily on integrity and compliance due diligence investigations in Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining Wallbrook, Loshana was a senior news journalist with The Star in Malaysia, focusing on politics, policymaking, and events of local and regional significance. During this time, Loshana covered two Malaysian elections, the 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal and the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and MH17 tragedies, while investigating and writing about lesser-known issues affecting Malaysian society. Loshana briefly served as producer for the BBC HARDtalk programme in London and later worked for the Centre for Independent Journalism, Malaysia’s leading non-profit organisation for media freedom advocacy and other freedom of expression issues.
Loshana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of South Australia, and a Masters in Global Journalism (with Distinction) from the University of Sheffield. She is a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship and the Chevening BBC World Service Group Professional Placement Programme.
Loshana is fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia, and has native knowledge of Tamil.
