Claire Soon is a Director with Wallbrook’s Singapore office, where she sits on the China and Southeast Asia teams.

Claire has extensive experience in research and analysis, with particular expertise in China and Southeast Asia. She started her career as a foreign service officer in the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She worked on key bilateral accounts in the Ministry’s Southeast Asia I Directorate, before being posted as a political secretary to the Singapore Embassy in Beijing. While in Beijing, she focused on analysis of China’s foreign policy, in particular ASEAN-China relations, and was awarded the Ministry’s S Rajaratnam Award for excellence in political reporting. She went on to serve as a research analyst in the Singapore Ministry of Defence, where she continued to look at geopolitical developments.

Claire holds a first class bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Oxford and a master’s degree in History from Yale University. She is fluent in Chinese.
