WWF
Wallbrook’s ESG team supported WWF research and write its seminal report on the financial sectors role in financing deforestation. The report quantifies the risk of exposure of the UK’s financial sector to deforestation and conversion through forest-risk commodities. It reveals that UK financial sector actors have provided almost £40 billion in financing into the supply chains for Indonesian palm oil and Brazilian beef and soy alone. Its lower-bound estimate of total exposure to these supply chains, including indirectly through other investors, is almost £200 billion.

Pro BONO
The Wallbrook team are involved in numerous pro bono matters worldwide, often alongside our law firm partners. Cases are wide ranging often concerning issues aligned with our mission as an ESG firm or where we can see a clear injustice has occured. One example is the case of Andrew Malkinson who spent over 17 years in prison whilst maintaining innocence and where we assisted APPEAL in identifying evidence undermining the credibility and reliability of two key prosecution witnesses, which the police and prosecution had failed to disclose at trial. Mr Malkinson’s case has now been referred back to the Court of Appeal on the basis of fresh DNA evidence that points to a previously unknown suspect and his story is the subject of “Seventeen years: The Andrew Malkinson story” a podcast series by the Times.
